MALA MAKING & INTRODUCTION TO JAPA MEDITATION WORKSHOP with Jessica Roodvoets and Jessica Shelton
Mantra recitation, or japa in Sanskrit, has been an important aspect of Yoga practice since Vedic times. Yoga teaches that through repetition we create either positive or negative habit patterns. Mantra japa produces positive mental tracks, helping us to overcome negativity and access the reality of our transcendent Self. For countless generations, mantra japa has been practiced with the aid of rosaries of various kinds. These are known as malas, meaning literally "garlands."
Join Jessica Roodvoets and guest instructor, Jessica Shelton, to learn this powerful technique for focusing the mind and for harnessing the body/mind's subtle energies. In this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of mantra recitation, make your own personal mala garland, and engage in group practice of japa meditation.
