Creating Balance for Autumn
Saturday August 25th 1:00-4:00 at Cascade Yoga Studio
Renee’s favorite yoga pose as a kid was upward bow. Back then, yoga just felt good, though she probably wouldn’t have called it that. Decades later, a stressful consulting career combined with constant travel sent her searching for balance, and she began taking yoga classes.
The physical postures reconnected her to what was going on in her body, she found the breath work calmed her mind, and the combination improved her health so much she committed to deepening her knowledge of Yoga, and its sister science Ayurveda. Through Yoga and Ayurveda she has reconnected with the innate wisdom of that inner child/inner guru who instinctually did upward bow. And she remains steadfast on her own journey of self-healing through these ancient sciences of living wisdom.
In 2011 she began practicing at Tejas yoga with Jim Bennitt and James Tennant, and that’s where she received her 200 hour teaching certificate in 2013. She is on the path to receiving a 500 hour certification, and has continued to make the study of these practices the core of her life.
In 2017 she began studying full-time at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque with Dr. Vasant Lad, pioneer in bringing Ayurveda to the West. This past June, Renee graduated from the Ayurvedic Institute with a certification in the Ayurvedic Studies Level 1 Lifestyle Consultant Program. She is thrilled about sharing what she has learned and the science (and art) of self-healing with others. Her intention is to provide the tools and encouragement that will allow students who attend to integrate this knowledge into their own lives, in an effective way.
In this workshop we will review basic tenets of Ayurveda [ah-yer-vey-duh] including:
• The 5 Elements
• The 3 Doshas
• The 20 Qualities (Gunas)
And also address the following:
• Individual Constitution/Current State
• Autumn Season Regimen
• Common Autumn Imbalances & Simple, Natural Remedies to Restore Balance
The workshop will include lecture, interactive group learning and subtle practice (breathing techniques and guided meditation).
Renee would also like to extend a $25 discount to attendees off a $75-60 minute one-on-one Ayurvedic consultation, where more individualized focus can be placed in determining the client’s prakriti/vikriti paradigm and designing a more detailed protocol specific to the client’s needs.
